Join us for an afternoon of old time string music!
The Hokum Pokum band is Jesse Epperson, wash tub bass, Ron Farris, mandolin, Steven Smith, tenor banjo, Angie Stallings, washboard, and Phil Sparks, guitar. The band was formed in 2010 to try to play and preserve some of the great string and jug band music that became popular in the 1920’s and 30’s. The Rockingham County band engages the crowd with a lively show. Washtub base and washboard rhythms provide the backdrop for spirited guitar, mandolin, and banjo combined with solid vocals. A little bit of history with the string band music, and a lot of fun.
Summertime is a great time of year. People are generally in lighter spirits as they hop from work to vacation to cookouts to festivals. The Rock 92 / 1075 KZL 13th Annual Summertime Brews Festival is one such festival.
For this 13th year of beer goodness, Four Saints Brewing Company and the Summertime Brews Festival collaborated on a special beer to highlight what summer is – light, refreshing, and hoppy. This Mosaic hopped blonde style beer will help keep you wistful through the coming dog days of summer.
Devil’s Advocate Small Batch Series: Chinese Gooseberry Blonde Ale
Sounds exotic, huh? We bet you’ve seen one or ate a Chinese Gooseberry…also known as kiwi fruit. Sometimes sweet and tart, kiwifruits add flavors reminiscent of strawberries, nectarines, and melons – a wonderful flavor palate for the hot days of summer.
Come and join some fellow amateur and professional artists as they gather around our community table to sketch and hang out with a beer or two.
